Betty Jean Ettredge, 93, of Pilot Point,TX, passed away Monday, June 19, 2023, at Texoma Medical Center, Denison, TX. She was born August 7, 1929, at home, in Denton County to Charles Riley “Charlie” and Rose Mae (Woods) Gladden. She married Anthony Harrol ”Tony” Ettredge July 28, 1951, in Denton, TX. Betty was a beautician prior to dedicating her life to family. She was a loving wife, Mom, “MeMe,” Aunt, Sister, and Daughter. As a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church of Pilot Point, TX. She was active in sharing her Christian faith and gifts, always worshiping, and serving the Lord. On rare occasion did she miss the opportunity to convey grace and comfort as a fellowship and bereavement leader and to those in need of the Shepherd Storehouse’s services. She enjoyed living life to the fullest, on her own terms, treasured her friends and never met a stranger. Betty loved being the center of everything , the bigger the gathering for family and friends the better. She was thrilled when her sister, Patsy Blake, relocated to Pilot Point; the two sisters were inseparable. Her 85th birthday celebration filled the small Pilot Point Mexican restaurant with family and friends. She adored her grand and great grandchildren. During the 2022 Christmas family gathering, she took delight in watching them run around her playing and giving her hugs. She was also a lover of wrapped gifts which she took her time unwrapping and was always grateful for and never forgot the giver of the gift. Betty also enjoyed music and singing (even if it was off key). Among her favorite artists were The Goodman Family, Alan Jackson, and Vince Gill, all of whom she saw in concert. Some of her favorite destinations were Colorado and Tennessee. Her husband, Tony, prided himself in teaching her how to cook, especially Cajun. She became an excellent cook and passed along the love of cooking farm raised foods to her children. Betty is survived by four children, Debbie Cagle Wells and husband Wayne of McKinney, TX, Mark Ettredge and wife Brenda of Trussville, AL, Mike Ettredge and wife Barbara of Pilot Point, TX, and Blake Ettredge and wife Michelle of Whitesboro, TX; two step-children, Lillian Covington of Muldrow, OK, and Richard “Butch” Ettredge and wife Jane of Georgetown; eleven grandchildren, Zachary Cagle of Nashville, TN, Austin Ettredge and wife Lauren of McKinney, TX, Katie Pipes of Celina, TX, Matthew Ettredge of Trussville, AL, James Ettredge and wife Linda of Justin, TX, Tammy Foote and husband Andrew of Stillwater, OK, Gretchen Fenley and husband Zachary of Whitesboro, TX, Jason Ettredge and wife Christina of Gainesville, TX, Ashley Ettredge of Whitesboro, TX, Alyssa Buchanan and husband Jake of Denison, TX, and Ricky Mendoza and significant other Tiffany of Whitesboro, TX; seventeen great grandchildren; niece Stephanie Haynes Koen and husband Jimmy of McKinney, TX; two nephews; one great nephew and numerous other extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband Tony Ettredge, parents Charles and Rose Gladden, sister Patsy Blake, brother-in-law Robert “Bob” Blake, son Charles Ettredge and grandson Daniel Ettredge. The family would like to thank Cedar Hollow Rehabilitation Center, Sherman, TX, for their compassion and loving care shown to Betty. We are forever grateful. A visitation will be held 5:00pm-7:00pm Friday, June 23, 2023, at Slay Memorial Funeral Center, Aubrey, TX. Services will be held at 10:00am Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Slay Memorial Funeral Center, Aubrey, TX with Judith H. Bone officiating. Interment will follow at Pilot Point Community Cemetery. Pallbearers are Zachary Cagle, Austin Ettredge, Matthew Ettredge, James Ettredge, Andrew Foote, Zachary Fenley, Jason Ettredge, and Ricky Mendoza. The Honorary Pallbearer is Daniel Ettredge.
