Agnes Bernadette (Zimmerer) Betzen, 96, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024, in Celina, TX. Agnes was born in Lindsay, TX on January 2, 1928, to Herman and Rose (Kuhn) Zimmerer. There she grew up on the family farm and attended school. She later moved to Hereford, TX to start a new life and eventually raise her family. She was employed by Hereford ISD for many years as a cafeteria worker. While residing in Hereford, Agnes was a member of St. Anthony’s Church and a member of the Rosary Makers Club. She made over 32,000 rosaries in her lifetime and taught several of her great-grandchildren how to make a rosary. She enjoyed reading, word search books, embroidery, being outdoors, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 2016 she moved to Celina, TX to live with her daughter Linda and husband Raul Briones. There she became a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Pilot Point, TX and continued the ministry of making rosaries. The loves of her life were her many grandchildren and precious great-grandchildren. Her strong faith in the Lord was a testimony and example to her family and all who knew her. Agnes was a diligent, steadfast prayer warrior and one could always count on her to pray for you. Agnes is survived by her four sons, James and wife Wilona of Columbus, MT, Ray and wife Ann of Hobbs, NM, Francis and wife Deanette of Amarillo, TX, Jerry and wife Gwen of Hereford, TX, her daughters Robin and husband Roy Gonzales of Dimmitt, and Linda and husband Raul Briones of Celina, TX; son-in-law Joe McKnight of Canadian, TX; 21 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Betty Hellman of Lindsay, TX; and brother William(Billy) and wife Marcella Zimmerer of Lindsay, TX. Agnes was preceded in death by her daughter, Marian McKnight; parents, Herman and Rose Zimmerer; brothers, Bernard, Frank, Herman, Jr, Clarence, Alcuin and Alvin; and her sisters, Sister Mary Rose, Sister Herman Mary, Sister Barbara, and Marie Zimmerer In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Agnes’s memory to St. Thomas Aquinas Church (Malawi, Africa Fund), 400 St Thomas Aquinas Ave., Pilot Point, TX 76258 Visitation will be held from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Slay Memorial Chapel in Aubrey, TX with Rosary at 7:00PM. Her service will be Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 11:00Am at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Pilot Point, TX with Father Walter Dworak officiating. Interment will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery.
