Bryan Brooks, beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He was born in Denton, Texas, to Gerald Wayne and Katherine Ann Brooks. Bryan spent his early childhood in Farmers Branch, Texas, before his family relocated to Stevens Point, Wisconsin, for his father’s work Bryan attended Stevens Point Area Senior High (SPASH), graduating in 1978, where he met the love of his life and future wife, June. Their love story began in high school and continued for nearly five decades—48 wonderful years together, including 42 years of marriage. After high school, Bryan pursued his passion for art and design, attending multiple colleges and ultimately earning an Associate’s Degree in Visual Communications from the Art Institute of Atlanta in 1983. That same year, he and June married and began a lifetime of shared adventures. Bryan’s professional journey reflected his creativity, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit. He began as a talented artist and designer with Coca-Cola in Atlanta, Georgia, and Trammell Crow in Dallas, Texas, before founding his own advertising agency, Dark Horse Studio, in Las Colinas. Later, his creativity and craftsmanship led him to form Southern Star Iron Works, where he designed and built custom steel gates and fences, becoming known as a perfectionist and master welder. In 2006, Bryan began working in fleet sales at Holiday Chevrolet in Whitesboro, Texas. His leadership and vision inspired him to expand the department to include police vehicle upfitting—a venture that evolved into a new company, Defender Supply. Bryan spent the last 19 years as President where he led with perseverance, integrity, creativity, and care for his team, many of whom he considered family. Naturally, he designed the company’s logo himself. Bryan’s talents extended beyond business. He was deeply involved in the Grapevine, Texas community, where he created the city’s current logo, helped found the Grapevine Heritage Foundation, and played a key role in developing GrapeFest. His leadership and dedication to community preservation earned him recognition and the respect of many. In addition, Bryan was continuously involved in the Pilot Point Educational Foundation since the formation in 1995, which provides scholarships for both students and teachers at Pilot Point ISD. A man of many passions, Bryan loved classic and fast cars, car shows, collecting car memorabilia, and Formula 1 racing. He enjoyed boating, waterskiing, snow skiing, off-roading, and spending time outdoors. He also enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially football. Whether restoring old farm equipment or working in his barn, Bryan found joy in creating and building. He also cherished time spent hunting with friends, riding motorcycles in his younger years, and sharing laughter with friends and family. Bryan was a man of faith, integrity, and generosity—a steady presence and guiding light in the lives of all who knew him. As a firm believer in Christ, his faith shaped the way he loved, led, and served others. Known for his contagious laughter, big smile, energy, and playful sense of humor, Bryan had an extraordinary ability to brighten any room and make everyone feel valued. He especially loved telling unbelievable stories. Bryan and June’s shared love for adventure took them to their beloved cabin in the North Woods of Wisconsin, where they created treasured memories together and with their family year after year. He cherished every moment he had to explore and discover new places with his bride. Bryan made it his mission to make her smile big and laugh every day. He was a devoted “Girl Dad” to his two daughters, Cheyenne and Sierra, proudly supporting them in every sport, event, and life milestone. His enthusiastic spirit led him to announce Ladycat softball games, earning him the affectionate title of “The Voice of the Ladycats.” Bryan’s pride in his daughters grew as he watched them build families and careers of their own, and he cherished his relationships with his sons-in-law, who thought the world of him. Bryan adored his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. He loved giving Ranger rides, four-wheeler adventures, and sharing cuddles and giggles on his recliner—moments filled with warmth, stories, and laughter. “PaPaw” was one of his proudest titles. Bryan’s life was a masterpiece of creativity, love, laughter, and faith. His legacy will live on in the many people he inspired and the countless lives he touched. Bryan is survived by his wife of 42 years, June; two daughters, Cheyenne Preputnik and husband Aaron of Ponder, TX and Sierra Hudson and husband Cole of Aubrey, TX; four grandchildren, Faith, Chloe, Caden, and Brooks; two sisters, Becky Walker and husband Ben of Frisco, TX and Deborah Moss and husband Steve of Las Vegas, NV; nephew, Charles Massey; and niece, Ellen Carlson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Katherine, and nephew, Patrick Gerald Walker. Visitation will be held 2:00PM-3:00PM, Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Midway Church in Pilot Point, TX. Funeral services will begin at 3:00PM with John Theisen officiating. Interment will follow at Pilot Point Community Cemetery in Pilot Point, TX. Pallbearers are Aaron Preputnik, Cole Hudson, Charles Massey, Jim Mendyke, Eric Hove and Bob Falk. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bryan’s memory may be made to the Pilot Point Educational Foundation, specifying the Bryan and June Brooks Scholarship, P.O. Box 1289, Pilot Point, TX 76258.
