Dorothy Griffin, 67, of Little Elm, TX, passed away on September 14, 2023. She was born in Waxahachie, TX on April 9, 1956, to Claude Dell Young and Mary Katherine Smith Young. Her parents later moved to Duncanville, TX where she grew up with her siblings and attended school. She married Gary Wayne Griffin of Garland, TX on May 24, 1986. Dorothy was kind, loving and had a servant’s heart. She never met a stranger and was always smiling and laughing. Throughout her life Dorothy made so many friends, many she grew up with in Duncanville, some she met through her time as a nurse’s aide at Shadyside Nursing Home, and at church. She loved helping others and would spend countless days and nights sewing baby blankets for the hospitals, collecting and distributing donations for Samaritan's Purse, and other various charities. Her best times in life were spent with family playing cards, dominos, taking family vacations, and watching her kids and grandkids grow. She never measured her life by her achievements, although she would tell you that her biggest accomplishment was raising her girls. Dorothy is survived by her husband Gary Griffin; two daughters, Chelsie Griffin of Little Elm, and Sabrina Lambert, and husband, Bryan, of Waxahachie, TX; two grandchildren, Jessica Distin and husband Blake and Garrett Lambert and wife Anna; four blessings in the form of great grandchildren, Everett, Lucy, Elias and Emerson; brother Tim Young and wife Angie and Jimmy Pat Young; sister Lea Ann Braley; brother in law Don Griffin; four nieces, Malorie Bishop, Racheal Braley, Kendal Young, Joanie Lester; nephews, Christopher Young, Justin Young; aunt Liz Smith Hickman; great nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Claude Dell and Mary Katherine Young; in-laws, Dan and Maxine Griffin; grandmother's, Ethie Viola Reynolds and Henry Ann Smith; grandfathers, Claude Alexander Young and James Robert Smith; uncle, Gene Hickman; nephew, Aaron Young; and great granddaughter, Elaina Ruth Distin. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, from 6:00 - 8:00PM at Slay Memorial Funeral Home located at 400 S. Hwy. 377 in Aubrey, TX 76227. A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Aurora Cemetery located at 507 Cemetery Road in Aurora, TX 76078 In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to a charity of your choice.
