Emma Pearl Thompson, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully June 16, 2025, in Pilot Point, TX, at the remarkable age of 95. Born July 18, 1929, in Benson, LA, to sharecroppers John Henry Weeks and Lenora Mary Quinn. Emma's life was a testament to love, and unwavering faith. Emma was one of nine siblings. She carried the resilient spirit of her upbringing throughout her entire life. A gifted student, she demonstrated exceptional intelligence early on, skipping two grades and graduating high school at just 16. With the help of her father and a little bit of forgery, they obtained a birth certificate that allowed her to work at the phone company, marking the beginning of her remarkable journey. Emma went on to earn her cosmetology license, becoming a highly sought-after stylist in Shreveport, LA, where her talent and charm left a lasting impression on all who met her. On September 9, 1979, Emma married the love of her life, Lottie Howard Thompson, in Shreveport, LA. Together, they created a warm and loving home filled with laughter and joy. Second only to Jesus, Emma's greatest treasures were her children, whom she adored beyond measure. Affectionately known as "Honey" by her grandchildren, Emma had a unique ability to light up any room with her infectious laughter and radiant smile. Her magnetic personality drew people in, making friends wherever she went, including with strangers. She was always impeccably dressed, never leaving home without her hair styled, red or pink lipstick, and a fashionable outfit. Emma's generous spirit extended to her community, where she had a special fondness for the elderly. She dedicated her time to visiting homebound individuals and befriending residents in long-term care facilities. Her love for travel led her to many cross-country adventures, creating lasting memories with friends in beautiful places like Colorado and Wyoming. Even with a limited income, she supported numerous charitable organizations -especially the ones important to her, such as Shriners Hospital, demonstrating her commitment to helping others. A proud mother and grandmother, Emma, cherished attending school functions and sporting events, celebrating the achievements of her family with boundless enthusiasm. Her hobbies included gardening, fashion, shopping, and collecting jewelry, and she had a special love for dogs, with her beloved companion, Trouble, bringing her so much joy in her later years. Emma Pearl Thompson's beautiful laughter, sweet smile, and warm hugs will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her family finds solace in the knowledge that she is now singing and smiling in Heaven with her Savior, surrounded by love and peace. Emma's legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will continue to inspire all who were touched by her remarkable life. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Lenora; beloved husband Lottie, children, David Randolph Austin, Ronald Allen Austin, and Cheryl Diane Teer; siblings, Norman Weeks, Johnnie Weeks, Glenn Weeks, Fred Weeks, Thelma Gremillion, Ruby Weeks, Jewel Weeks, and Joan Duby. Emma is survived by her daughter, Randi True and husband Chris of Pilot Point, TX; stepchildren, Linda Miller of Orwig, PA, Carol Thompson of Baltimore, MD, James Howard Thompson of Orwig, PA, and David Thompson of Baltimore, MD; cherished grandchildren, Kristi Lee, Tina Culver, Jolyn Teer, Rob Teer, Randy Bynog, Garrett True, and Lindsey True; great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In celebration of the spirit of Emma Thompson, we ask that memorials be sent to Shriner Children’s Hospital, and Calvary Baptist. Funeral services will be at Calvary Baptist Church in Pilot Point on July 12, 2025, at 1 pm. She will then be laid to rest next to her son and her mother at Centuries Memorial in Shreveport, Louisiana on Monday July 14th.
