It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved father, grandfather, and dedicated public servant, Franklin Allen Dorough. Frank passed away on November 10, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, commitment, and service. Frank was born January 30, 1935, in Kaufman, TX to David and Carrie (Willingham) Dorough. He lived in Carrollton TX for many years, and later made a home in Krugerville, TX. He was married to Barbara Rae (Tanner) Dorough for an impressive 68 years before her passing. Frank’s commitment to his family and unwavering support for Barbara was an inspiration to all who knew them. Frank was a long-time member of New Hope Baptist Church. Frank's legacy is deeply intertwined with the city of Dallas, where he served as a firefighter for an honorable 32 years. He dedicated his life to ensuring the safety and well-being of the community, displaying courage and resilience in the face of danger. Frank was not only a colleague but also a friend to many in the firefighting community. Beyond his professional commitments, Frank had a passion for travel. He loved going on road-trips across the country. From the mountains to serene coastlines, Frank embraced the beauty of the world and created enduring memories with his loved ones. Frank will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, sense of humor, and the countless lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and a spirit of adventure that we will all remember. Frank is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Watts of Denton, TX; grandchildren Justin Watts and his wife, Krista, Aaron McLendon and wife, Heather, Amanda McLendon, Jeremy Dorough; and two great grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Dorough; parents David and Carrie; son David Dorough; and daughter Linda Lee. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Franklin Allen Dorough will be held at Belew Cemetery in Aubrey, TX with Pastor Aaron Ashlock officiating on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Salvation Army in Frank Dorough's memory. May he rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to bring comfort and strength to those who mourn his passing.
