James August Hellman, age 84 of Krugerville, Texas passed away, Friday, November 18, 2022 in Denton, Texas. James was born in Muenster, Texas, June 13, 1938, to Clarence A. Hellman and Ernestine C. (Huchton) Hellman. He married Nancy Elaine Flowers on January 21, 1960, in Gainesville, Texas. James retired from Glidden Paint Company after a 33 year career. He was a member of the Aubrey ISD School Board; a City of Krugerville Councilman; and a lifelong member of the Knight of Columbus. James’ favorite activities included, billiards, horseshoes, dominos, fishing, and golf. He was actively involved in Aubrey Youth Sports and always seen at his kids and grandkids sporting events. He was most happy surrounded by family and friends. James is survived by his wife, Nancy, of 62 years; three daughters, Dayna Hellman of Oak Point, Texas, DeAnn Morris and husband Kyle of Aubrey, Texas, and Darla Hellman of Denton, Texas; two sons, Daryl Hellman and wife Angela of Pilot Point, Texas, and David Hellman and wife Tabitha of Aubrey, Texas; fourteen grandchildren, Chris (Brandi), Brent (Leeann), and Hollie Morris; Lanie (Colten) and Brandon Lile; RyLee, KyLee, Ty, and Ivy Hellman; Landon and Luke Hellman; Jessi (Ricky) Whitfield, Colt, and Logan Davis; thirteen great-grandchildren; Tyson, McKinley, Maddox, and Kate Morris; Cohen Hendrickson; Phoenix and Wren Morris; Liam, Beckett, and Sutton Whitfield; Lane and Cody Garvin; and Harlen Davis; two sisters, Doris (Monte) Hellman of Dallas, Texas and Peggy (Larry) Gobble of Muenster, Texas; three brothers, C.J. (Alice) Hellman of Lindsay, Texas, Tim (Carol) Hellman of Fort Worth, Texas, and Eddie (Donna) Hellman of Rockwall, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ernestine; brother, Teddy Hellman; sisters, Mary Nell Newman, and Dyann Hess; and granddaughter, Codi Schares. Visitation will be, Monday, November 21, 2022 from 6:30-7:30 PM at the Slay Memorial Chapel in Aubrey, Texas. Mass will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Pilot Point with burial following at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Cemetery.
