It is with great love that we remember Patricia Mustard, affectionately known as “Patty Jo”. Patricia Joan Mustard, 93, a longtime resident of Irving, TX, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Patricia was born on May 11, 1932, to John Logan McGown and Florence Irene Burch. Patty Jo was a remarkable woman who brightened the lives of everyone she met. A devoted member of her church, she cherished the time spent with friends over lunches, laughing and sharing stories. Her vibrant spirit shone through her many passions and interests, such as gardening, fishing, cooking, DIY projects, bowling, and the Dallas Cowboys. She loved playing games like Pinochle, Wahoo, and Yahtzee, relishing in joyful competition. Patty Jo was known for taking in pets that needed a loving home. Her heart of gold and the passion she carried with her was a true testament to the energy she had for life. Growing up on a farm, surrounded by her five sisters, she was her father's "right-hand farmhand." This instilled in her a unique ability to fix anything that needed mending—she was, in every sense, a female "MacGyver." In her later years, even into her mid-eighties, she remained fiercely independent, tending to her own yard with pride. Professionally, Patty Jo was a force. Her career spanned roles as an executive secretary, accountant, and office manager, holding prestigious positions with oil companies, attorneys, banks, and IT firms. Known for her utmost integrity, she earned the trust of everyone she served, exemplifying professionalism and dedication throughout her life. Her exceptional skills earned her the title of Woman of the Year from the American Business Women's Association, Dallas Chapter, a recognition she wore with pride. At her core, Patty Jo was a loving family matriarch, whose heart overflowed with affection for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with them. Singing Christmas carols, making beautiful ornaments, hosting holiday dinners, serving her famous cherry pie -- Patty Jo crafted lasting family traditions that will be fondly remembered. Patty Jo leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories. Her spirit will forever remain with us, and she will be missed deeply by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Patricia is survived by her daughter, Debra Foster and husband Jack of Oak Point, TX; son, Michael James Mustard of Frisco, TX; sister, Marietta Munding of Parsons, KS; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Joanna, Megan, and Mason; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Patricia is preceded in death by her son, Timothy Mustard; her sisters, Betty, Dorothy, Helen, Margaret, and Kathleen; as well as her mother and father, Florence and John Logan McGown. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 18, 2025, at McCune Cemetery in McCune, KS. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Community Bible Church in Irving can be made by check.
