Betty Jo Sauls Shaw passed away June 14, 2023, and was joined in heaven by her husband, Raymond Gene Shaw Sr., January 28, 2024. Betty and Raymond married, November 22, 1959, in Denton, Texas. They were married for 63 years and lived in Pilot Point since 1962. Raymond and Betty were both active members of Calvary Baptist Church. Many will remember them for their love of church mission trips, teaching Sunday school, youth trips and genuine kind fellowship. A memorial service honoring and celebrating their lives will be held, Saturday, afternoon at 2:00PM, February 10, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church in Pilot Point, Texas. You may also extend your sympathies to the family during the visitation prior to the service at 1:00PM. Betty was born to F. E. “Jake” Sauls and Winnie Stallings March 3, 1944, in Denton, Texas. She retired from the University of North Texas in 2011. Betty loved taking care of kids, grandkids, and others. One of her favorite places was the beach and she enjoyed singing in the church choir. Raymond was born to Jackson William and Julia Elizabeth Tischler Shaw February 24, 1941, in Pilot Point, Texas. Raymond was laying brick until he was 80 years old and was dedicated to over 100 mission trips around the world. He also enjoyed farming and gardening. Raymond and Betty are survived by their children; Gene Shaw of Pilot Point, Cindy Wright of Aubrey, Julie and husband Gene Nicodemus of Pilot Point; six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews along with Raymond’s sister, Willene Crutsinger of Pilot Point and Betty’s sister, Vicky of Sanger. They are predeceased by their son, Jeff Shaw, and granddaughter, Dana Green along with Betty’s brother, Johnny George. Visitation will be held 1:00PM-2:00PM, Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church in Pilot Point, TX and the service will begin at 2:00PM with Kenny Guthrie officiating.
