Ruth Stewart, 80, passed away , Friday October 4, 2024 in Pilot Point, TX. She was born Januray 7, 1944 in Soper, OK to Clint and Mary Lou (Ashford) Merida. Ruth was married to Danny Walker (deceased 1997) for 27 years. Ruth retired from Otis Engineering in 1988 and then retired from Denison Glass and Mirror in 2015. Ruth also helped her husband Gary Stewart, whom she married in 2005, with his fishing guide business at Lake Texoma for several years as she very much enjoyed lake life and the sun. Together, they owned dirt track cars and raced on the weekends. Ruth and Gary loved the outdoors and traveling. They went on many cruises, enjoyed boating, RV camping, and visiting many cities and states throughout the US. Ruth was an active member of the Elks Lodge in Denison, TX where she worked closely with Toys for Tots. Ruth enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader visiting the Aubrey Community Library while getting to know the staff there very well during her weekly visits. Ruth was so very proud to be called "Granda" by her cherished great grandsons Sawyer and Gage, and you could find them outside many afternoons riding the golf cart or kicking the soccer ball. Ruth led a full adventurous and happy life. She will be missed. She is survived by her son, Monty Conley and wife Missy of Pilot Point, TX; two brothers, Clint Merida Jr. and wife Karen of Clayton, OK and Jerry Merida and wife Kathy of Eloy, AZ; sisters, Sue Betts of Atoka, OK and Janie Watts of Bartlesville, OK; grandson, Dylan Conley and wife Nichole of Pilot Point, TX; great-grandsons, Sawyer and Gage Conley; niece, Sheila Hull and husband John of Soper, OK and many other nieces, nephews and extended Gilliland family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clint and Mary Lou; and two sisters, Johnnie McMahan and Mary June Lemmond. Ruth's family would like to extend gratitude to the staff at Trio Hospice, for they are among the best in the business. At this time there are no services pending but a celebration of life will occur at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Terri Slay and Slay Memorial Funeral Center.
