    Barbara Evelyn Blocker

    May 26, 1927 - October 11, 2016

    Barbara Evelyn Blocker, 89, of Aubrey, TX, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016.  She was born May 26, 1927 in Cisco, TX to William Samuel Barnhill and Lillie Pauline Boatman Barnhill.  Barbara married Walter L. Blocker on March 9, 1946 in Stanton, TX.She is survived by her two sons, Charles Blocker and wife Lawanda of Carrollton, TX and Wade Blocker and wife Cari of Flower Mound, TX; two daughters, Darlene Carter and husband Jim of Aubrey, TX and Glenda Williams and husband Don of Midland, TX; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Billy Barnhill and wife Betty of Greenwood, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by parents, William and Lillie; spouse, Walter; and three brothers, Roy Lee, T.D., and W.E. Barnhill, WWII. Barbara joined the First Church of the Nazarene, Midland,Tx in 1950. She taught Sunday School 50 years, received numerous Certificates of Recognition and a Distinguished Service Award. After being widowed at the age of 46, she worked at Dunlaps, and returned to school at Commerical College in Midland. After graduation she went to work at Midland Memorial Hosptial retiring in 1993 as Medicare Supervisor. Barbara was a 28 year breast cancer survivor. A special thanks to Kay, Karrie, Sidonia, Melissa and Therall at Ardent Hospice for the loving care they gave our mother. A Celabration of Her Life will be held by the family Friday, October 28, 2016 at First Church of the Nazarene in Big Spring, TX at 2 pm. A local Celabration will be updated.  Online condolences may be shared at www.slaymemorialfuneralhome.com.In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to First Church of the Nazarene 1400 Lancaster, Big Spring, Tx 79720.Services are under the direction of Terri Slay and Slay Memorial Funeral Center.
