January 27, 1939 - July 3, 2014
Billie Stout, beloved wife, mother and friend, passed away on July 3, 2014 surrounded by her favorite things: family, mountains and laughter. She was born January 27, 1939 to Otis and Fay (Wilson) Johnson and grew up in Aubrey, Texas. At the age of 14 she began attending the Aubrey First Assembly of God Church and met her future husband, Herman "Shot" Stout there. They were married on July 14, 1956 in Gainesville, TX. This year they would have celebrated 60 years of attending church together and 58 years of marriage. Filled with generosity, a keen wit and ability to cook wonderfully, Billie made friends easily. A longtime resident of Aubrey, she oftentimes joked that she was related to all of the town in one way or the other. She and Shot travelled extensively in their RV visiting National Parks and marveling at the natural beauty of the land. She believed that her life was divinely directed and was always grateful for the many blessings she received. Her favorite advice to give was "don't let you mind dwell on things you cannot change. Even in the worst of times, there is God's grace." Billie is survived by her husband, Shot, and her son, Jim, his wife Fran of Edmond, OK and their nine grandchildren; and her daughter, Paula Stout of Palo Alto, CA. Her sister, Nell Nichols and brothers Bob and Butch Johnson also survive her as well as loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and a host of long-time friends and family members-of-the-heart. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Charles Don, her parents and her sister, Wanda Peck. Billie's life will be celebrated at a visitation on Tuesday, July 8 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Slay Funeral Home and her going home service will be Wednesday, July 9 at 2:00 pm at the Aubrey First Assembly of God - Hilltop Church. A memorial service will also be held in South Fork, Colorado. Online condolences may be shared at www.slaymemorialfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Terri Slay and Slay Memorial Funeral Center, Aubrey, TX.
