Carl Wayne Yarbrough of Krugerville passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023, after a very brave fight against cancer with his son David by his side. David took exceptional care of his dad over the past months and was a blessing to his father in his last days. Carl was born to Carl Melvin Yarbrough and Mildred Irene Yarbrough on July 14, 1954 in Denton, TX and lived in Denton County all of his life. Carl graduated from Denton High School Class of 1972 and from the University of North Texas with a Bachelors of Business. After college, he served in the United States Air Force and rose to the rank of Second Lieutenant. After the Air Force, Carl began his career at Peerless Manufacturing, where he rose to Plant Manager. Carl’s greatest joy was his two sons, John Wayne and Carl David. He never missed a soccer, baseball, basketball, or football game. He was always their biggest fan, and he even won the most spirited parent for the Aubrey Chaparrals one year. Carl always enjoyed playing golf and tried his best to teach both of his sons the love of the game. He enjoyed many hours out on the lake fishing and loved dove hunting. Carl was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity and enjoyed life-long friendships with several of his fraternity brothers. Carl was a man of God and follower of Jesus Christ. As can be attested by his desk as he last left it, two Bibles, both open to 1 Peter. He was also an avid lover of history. He was a terrific influence on many of his sons’ friends, to whom he shared an enthusiastic love of God and country. As well as more than a few Western movie quotes. Carl is survived by his son, Carl David; sister, Beverly Sanchez; sister-in-law, Marcia Yarbrough; lots of nieces and nephews; and friends that have lasted a lifetime. He was preceded in death by his son, John Wayne Yarbrough; mom, Mildred Yarbrough; dad, Carl Melvin Yarbrough; and brother, Wesley Yarbrough. The family will be at Slay Memorial Chapel in Aubrey, TX on Thursday, October 5, 2023, from 4:00PM- 6:00PM. A graveside service will be Friday, October 6, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Pilot Point Community Cemetery. On-line condolences may be shared at www.slaymemorialfuneralhome.com.
