Cora Lee Hilliard, 78, of The Colony, TX, passed away Monday, May 3, 2021 in Plano, TX. She was born February 3, 1943 in Lewisville, TX to Charlie Jack and Elsie Josephine (Graham) Howard. As a young, divorced mother of 3, Cora worked her way through nursing school to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse, As an LVN, She chose to spend her career working with our most vulnerable population, seniors living in nursing homes. Cora was revered by her administrators and peers. She was cherished by the residents and families that she touched each day with her caring and compassionate heart. Cora worked for 20 plus years as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Family was everything to Cora and she devoted her life to hers. Nothing brought her greater joy than being “Mema”. Cora is survived by her two sons, Joe Hilliard and wife Emily of Claremore, OK and Ricky Hilliard and wife Ginny of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter, Teresa O'Dell of The Colony, TX; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Joe Howard and wife Cheryl of Ponder, TX; and two sisters, Carol Webb and husband Paul of Ponder, TX and Dora Hale of Denton, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Elsie; brother, Wayne Howard; and two sisters, Linda Starr and Barbara Corley. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 28, 2021 at Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God Church in Denton, TX. Online condolences may be shared at www.slaymemorialfuneralhome.com.
