Donald Roussel Church, Sr.

Donald R. Church was born 26 June, 1930, in New Orleans, Louisiana to John B. and Anna Cornay Church. After graduation from Georgia Military Academy, he attended Tulane University. He then spent a year in Korea serving in the U. S. Army Artillery during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged as a 1st Lt. in November 1953. In 1954 he met and married Jo Hall on the 7th of May 1954. Don was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, John B. Church, Jr. and his sister, Phyllis Church Exline. He is survived by his wife, two daughters: Lynn Church Jordan Abbey and husband Joe, and Carol Church Wood and husband Mark; three sons, Donald R. Church, Jr. and wife Kellye, John H. Church, and Joseph C. Church and wife Mary Lynn; a sister, Cynthia Church Allen. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Amanda Church Rosmarin and husband Chris, Jordan Church, Ben Wood, Thomas Wood, Kalei Jordan, Kaitlyn Jordan, Kyla Jordan, Tyler Gott, and 1 great-grandchild, Avyn Reese Rosmarin. On his discharge from the army, Donald joined the family business as a manufacturing representative in the steel business from 1953 to 1974. He also owned Modular Metals anchor bolt mfg from 1955-1980, and Metal Art Stud Company in Lewisville from 1974 to 1980. He then formed and ran Pilot Point Ace Hardware from 1980 to 2006 when he retired. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM, Thursday, February 12, 2015 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Pilot Point, TX. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery.
