James Thomas Connor, Jr. earned his eternal rest on October 21, 2017 at the age of 72. He was born in Bad Mergentheim, Germany to Simone Seiler and was lovingly adopted from an orphanage in Belgium at the age of 18 months by Dr. James and Brunilda Connor of New Orleans. He was the beloved husband of Joy and loving father to James Connor III (Tracy), Laura Connor, Rebecca Chirinos (Miguel), Jeffrey Glynn (Erin) and Kelley Glynn-Mohr (Darren). Known as Bumpie to 13 grandchildren, he was cherished as a fun-loving, ever smiling hero to his grandchildren: Chad Lafrance (23), Cole Prince (21), Marissa Tenorio (18), Austin Prince (15), Ethan Chirinos (12), Logan Connor (11), Kensey Connor (10), Noah Chirinos (9), Avery Hicks (7), Aspen Glynn (6), Olivia Mohr (6), Emma Mohr (6), and Nola Glynn (4). He was brother of twin sisters Collette Connor McCrory (deceased) and Colleen Connor as well as Claire Hendel and brother, Reineir Seiler of Luxembourg.Jim was a lifelong educator. He was a science teacher then an assistant principal at Lacoste Elementary in Chalmette, LA. He became principal of Sebastian Roy and Arabi Elementary then supervisor of Adult Education and part time administrator of the Pre-School Center in St. Bernard Parish until Hurricane Katrina led to his retirement and move to Providence Village, TX. He attended Louisiana State University and received his Masters of Education from the University of New Orleans. His love of learning and teaching impacted thousands of students and hundreds of teachers throughout the parish, ensuring his legacy will be carried on by all whom he touched.Jim had a heart of gold, a bright smile, a wicked sense of humor and an intense love of his large immediate family and extended family here in the United States, Belgium and Luxembourg as well as the many he considered friends. A fierce lover of Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest, he always knew what it meant to “miss New Orleans”. He settled into his retired life in North Dallas but still loved to travel for pleasure and accompany his wife for their many trips to Mississippi for business.A celebration of his life will be held at the Slay Memorial Funeral Center in Aubrey, TX on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 3:00PM.
