James Ray Moody, 74, passed away on August 20, 2016 at his mother's home with his family beside him.Born in Atlanta, GA on June 26, 1942, he was the first child of Walter Ray Moody and Nellie Lola Jones. He is preceded in death by his father and brother Walter Gary Moody and survived by his mother, two siblings Danny Jones Moody and Lola Annette Bridges, his many nieces and nephews as well as numerous extended family members, and his beloved dog, Barney.James (or “Jimmy” as most knew him) served his country in the US Air Force and was an electrician by trade. In his later years he established his own custodial and maintenance business, JR Enterprises. His primary jobs included First Baptist Church in Denton and the Tioga ISD, where he was also a school bus driver. He spent a lifetime serving others. He selflessly and unconditionally cared for his family and was the most loyal and dependable son, brother, uncle and friend. He was a native of Georgia but made Texas his home thirty-five years ago to be at his mother’s side and help care for his beloved maternal grandmother.Visitation will be held 6:30PM-8:00PM, Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Slay Memorial Chapel of Aubrey. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, August 26, 2016 at Slay Memorial Chapel of Aubrey followed by a graveside at his eternal resting place in Tioga Cemetery, Tioga, TX. Lunch will be served afterwards at his mother’s home and will be graciously provided by his brother Danny’s church, Apostolic Temple of Frisco, TX.
