    Janette Carol Ayers

    December 9, 1959 - December 20, 2018

Janette (Jan) Carol Ayers was called home to be with her Lord on December 20, 2018. She was born December 9, 1959 in Fort Smith, AR to Virgil Burdette and Thelma Louise (Pierce) Ames. Jan married Roger Brent Ayers on September 8, 1979 in Aubrey, TX. The couple was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Kelly Nicole and Kacy Allyson. Jan stayed home to raise her girls and opened up a home daycare in 1989, where she lovingly cared for many young children for seven years. In 1997 she began working as a Library Aide at Newton Rayzor Elementary School, and quickly fell in love with reading, and recommending just the right book for each student. She remained part of the Newton Rayzor Elementary family for 20 years and made a lasting impact not only on the library, but the entire campus. Jan also served actively in her church community teaching Sunday school, leading GA’s, and creating a Mom’s-In-Touch group where she gathered mothers to pray for their students and teachers. She was a member of The Village Church Denton where she led countless women’s bible studies. Jan loved reading, shopping, napping, watching football with Roger, and most of all spending time with her family. She especially loved being Grammy to her three cherished grandchildren. Jan demonstrated great faith as she bravely battled breast cancer and touched many people, always pointing them to the source of her strength and perseverance, Jesus. Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Thelma Ames; and brother, Scott Ames. Jan is survived by her husband, Roger Ayers of Denton, TX; daughter, Kelly and husband Rob Spry of Denton, TX; daughter, Kacy and husband Mark Ziegler of Argyle, TX; and three grandchildren, Kyle, Hailey, and Cora Ziegler. Visitation will be held 5:00PM-7:00PM, Friday, December 21, 2018 at Slay Memorial Chapel in Aubrey, TX.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, December 22, 2018 at The Village Church in Denton, TX.  Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton TX.  Online condolences may be shared at www.slaymemorialfuneralhome.com.
