    Joe Frank Spafford, III

    November 7, 1944 - December 7, 2013

    Joe Frank Spafford, III of Denton, Texas, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2013. Joe was born November 7, 1944 in Greenville, Texas to Joe Frank Spafford, II and Sue Spafford. He graduated from Rockwall High School and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Business Administration at North Texas State University in Denton. He married Carla May Chambers of Margarita, Panama Canal Zone on October 21, 1966 in Rockwall, Texas. He was retired from Central Freight Lines, Irving, Texas where he worked his way up to management over a period of more than 30 years. Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Carla Chambers Spafford; his parents, Joe and Sue Spafford; and his brother Steve Spafford. He is survived by his two daughters, Jodi Zambrano of Pilot Point, Texas and Jennifer Pettit of Flower Mound, Texas; his sister Sarah Spafford of Rockwall, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a cherished friend, Sandy Wilson. There will be a memorial reception from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at his daughter's residence at 421 E. Division, Pilot Point, Texas for those who wish to give their condolences to the family. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. On-line condolences may be shared at www.slaymemorialfuneralhome.com.
