June 26, 1975 - August 18, 2017
Jonathan David Despain, 42, of Frisco, TX, returned to the Heavenly Father Friday, August 18, 2017 after a well fought battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born June 26, 1975 in Salt Lake City, UT to Bruce Davis and Mary Catherine (Gunter) Despain. Jonathan married Alison Dawn English on November 1, 1997 in Salt Lake City, UT. Stuart Scott said "When you die it doesn’t mean you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and the manner in which you live". Jonathan lived each to the fullest before cancer. After, Jonathan was more than his family could have imagined. Jonathan "earned his keep by handwashing dishes from his wheelchair as well as doing all the laundry". He was such an amazing father and husband. Jonathan was patient, and so kind, he always encouraged his children to reach higher and be better. Jonathan’s pride and joy was his family. He loved golfing with his best friend Clint. They went every opportunity they could when they both had time. Jonathan was an avid Utah Jazz fan and loved to play basketball. Jonathan was an avid movie watcher. We watched as Jonathan listened to all of his favorite moves right before he peacefully passed away. Jonathan held many callings within The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints and had an unwavering testimony of the gospel and The Plan of Salvation. He was an incredibly selfless and hardworking man. Jonathan worked for Classic Cabinets, and later started his own business and was very successful, as well as working for BMC. Jonathan you have left a void in our hearts, you have also left an incredible legacy for those left behind, especially your children. What a pleasure and blessing it is to have been married to you for 19 years! You made me want to be better. I can't wait for Eternity. I'm grateful this is not the end but the beginning of something amazing. Till we meet again! Jonathan is survived by his wife, Alison of Frisco, TX; parents, Bruce and Mary of Wellsville, UT; two sons, Orion and Britton Despain of Frisco, TX; two daughters, Halley and Madeline Despain of Frisco, TX; brother, James Despain of Chicago, IL; three sisters, Joanna Fisher of Salt Lake City, UT, Andrea Hendricks of Colorado, and Jeanette Ashley of New York, NY; and his best friend, Clint Barton of Salt Lake City, UT. He was preceded in death by his brother, Geoff Despain and sister, Angela Despain. Visitation will be held 9:00AM-10:00AM, Saturday, August 26, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cross Roads Building in Aubrey, TX. A funeral service will begin at 10:00AM with Bishop Alejandro Flores officiating. Interment will be at Belew Cemetery in Aubrey, TX.
