Lena Mae (Sam) Marriott, 74, formerly of Pilot Point passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014 in Watauga. Sam was born on July 6, 1939 to Cline W. and Edna Davis Veazey in Bastrop, LA. She married B. O. Marriott. He preceded her in death. Visitation will be at 5pm on Tuesday evening April 29 at Slay Memorial Funeral Center in Aubrey. The funeral service will be held at 6pm upon conclusion of the visitation. Rev. Luther Slay will officiate. She is survived by step-son, Bobby Lee Marriott; daughter, Rita Renee Rushing Pratt; step-daughter Patty Marriott; two brothers, Kenneth Ray "Pee Wee" Veazey, Roger Dale Veazey. Sam has one granddaughter, Samantha Pratt and two step-grandchildren, Misty Arrington and Brandon Marriott. There are also three step-great-grandchildren, Landon Strahan, Jackson Arrington, and Eli Arrington. She is preceded in death by one brother, Judson Cline "Bud" Veazey; one sister, Jeanette Veazey Bonner. Sam loved Bobby's Dad with all her heart and they did everything together. She loved animals and they always had dogs. Sam was an amazing cook and loved to fish! She was sooo emotional-she would cry at the drop of a hat. Sam also could be ornery at times and we think she still has that trait! We would like to thank our extended family of caregivers, Teresa Berendowsky and Amber Fulwood.
