March 14, 1955 - September 9, 2016
Leon Baker Jr., 61, of Little Elm, TX, passed away Friday, September 9, 2016. He was born March 14, 1955 in Dallas, TX to Leon Baker, Sr. and Lucille Turner Baker. To his immediate family he was known as "Tutie" or "TJ", and to many others just "Lee". Leon married Julie Dee Larson on March 28, 1986 in Terrell, TX.Lee is survived by his mother, Lucille of Dallas, TX; wife, Julie of Little Elm, TX; two sons, Leon Baker, III of Desoto, TX and Sam Matson of San Antonio, TX; three daughters, Shlanda Ferrell of Desoto, TX, LaTasha McDowell of Desoto, TX, and Heather Drummons of Little Elm, TX; ten grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Baker of Desoto, TX and Rickey Baker of Oklahoma City, OK; and two sisters, Reba Baker of Desoto, TX and Regina Johnson of Desoto, TX. Lee was preceded in death by his father.Lee had many passions, but his family was always first. Although he was not inclined to verbally express his deep love for his family, he would do things for them that delivered the message loud and clear. He cherished their pictures, and reports of achievements like pure gold. Lee also loved fishing, collecting and fixing antique radios, gardening/yard work, driving his truck, tinkering on various projects, looking for the next newest thing he could make for family/friends at Christmas. He was passionate about western movies, and could be observed reciting the lines of the characters before they were even spoken by the actor. In the last couple years of his life, Lee and Julie went to movies every Tuesday, and also shared an interest in watching the "news" practically the entire day. Lee and Julie could be found going to garage sales on Saturdays and periodically to the flea market, riding around in his truck, scouting out things that could be refinished or re-purposed. He leaves many objects of his creative talents behind, to be enjoyed by all those he loved. He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone, often dragging them into his house to show off his radio collection. His pleasant demeanor and captivating smile pulled you in to want to engage in conversation with him.
