Linda Mae Tardif, 73, of Denton, TX, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021 in Denton. Her husband David Eugene Tardif, 76, passed four days before her on September 12, 2021. Linda was born April 16, 1948 in Hot Springs, AR and David was born June 22, 1945 in Lewiston, ME. It was love at first sight when David met Linda while visiting Hot Springs in 1968. After returning home to California, he made a quick turnaround back to Hot Springs to marry Linda. They were married in Hot Springs, AR on August 23, 1968. David and Linda loved each other for 52 years, raised their two daughters, and adored their granddaughters. David was drafted into the US Army in 1965 and served two tours in Vietnam as a staff sergeant. He served as a colonel's jeep driver and bodyguard and received the Vietnam Service Medal. David had a rugged strength and was hard working husband and father. He worked as a telephone man for GTE for 22 years and Sprint for 10 years. David always had a soft spot for the little lap dogs he and Linda had throughout their life together. Linda worked as a homemaker and raised two daughters leading them both to trust in Christ. She embraced her role as a grandmother to two granddaughters by hosting countless sleepovers and family celebrations. Linda loved attending Denton Community Church with her family and growing in her faith until the Lord brought her home. Linda was a tender-hearted animal lover. David and Linda had a real friendship and loved going on long country drives to look at horses, cows, goats, and the beautiful Texas countryside. They are survived by their daughters, Tammy Louise Tardif of Denton, TX and Shannon Mary Evers of Denton, TX; and grandchildren, Kelsey Evers of Denton, TX and Emily Achim of Vienna, Austria. Linda is survived by her brother Gary Storey and wife Nancy of Hot Springs, AR; and two sisters, Sylvia Wright and husband Richard of Hot Springs, AR and Verna Storey of Benton, AR. David is survived by his three sisters, Geri Wall and husband Scott of Long Beach, CA, Norma Taylor of Long Beach, CA, and Patsy Jones and husband Kenny of Boring, OR. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Earlene (Manor) Storey. David was preceded in death by his parents, Bertrand and Lauretta (Savard) Tardif; brother, Norman Tardif; and sister, Nancy Austin. Their visitation will be held 10:00-11:00AM, Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Slay Memorial Chapel in Aubrey, TX and the funeral service will begin at 11:00AM with Brian Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Slay-Bloomfield-Jones Cemetery in Mountain Springs, TX. Online condolences may be shared at www.slaymemorialfuneralhome.com.
