Mary Frances Fries Pelzel of Pilot Point, Texas, passed from this life to her eternal home in heaven on Friday, August 7, 2015. She was born November 9, 1922 to Frank Fries, Jr. and Hilda Suter Fries at Delaware Ben, Red River, near the north border of Texas. She married William Louis Pelzel on June 18, 1946 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Pilot Point, Texas, where they were lifelong members. She loved to create her own beaded jewelry, crochet doilies and afghans, and many beautiful quilts. She and William lived east of Pilot Point for many years in Grayson County. They always had a large vegetable garden and fruit trees which with their constant care produced the most delicious vegetables and fruits for canning. She always made bread and special scrumptious breads at Christmas time. They took many a trip for fishing at Lake Texoma. She was a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church Altar Society and had worked many years at the Hilltop Haven Nursing Home in Gunter, Texas. She is survived by one daughter, Mary Jane Erwin and husband, Ronnye of Aubrey, Texas; one son, David William Pelzel and wife Diane of San Antonio, Texas; one step daughter, Viola Schindler of Pilot Point, Texas. Mrs. Pelzel is also survived by eight grandchildren, Rhonda Stephens, her husband, Doug and their son Hunter Stephens of Krum, Texas, Mary Renee Erwin of Aubrey, Texas; Courtney Pelzel and wife Dana and his children Jacob and Lauren Pelzel of San Antonio, Texas; Ashley Angiollo and husband, Dom, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Larry Schindler and wife, Karen, of Pilot Point, Texas; Bobbie Schindler and wife Donita, Gary Schindler and wife Kitty, of Henrietta, Texas and Terry Schindler of Tioga, Texas. She is survived by fourteen great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William, and her sister, Lucille Maier. Services are under the direction of Slay Memorial Funeral Center in Pilot Point, Texas. Rosary will be recited beginning at 6:30pm, Monday, August 10, 2015 with visitation following until 8:00pm. Family and friends will celebrate her life at a Mass of Christian burial on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 10:00am with burial following at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to extend our appreciation for the very good care she received at the Vintage Nursing Home and the Visiting Nurse Association in Denton, Texas.
