    Montyne Turner

    November 17, 1927 - May 12, 2013

    Montyne Parker Turner went to be with her Lord on Mother's Day, May 12, 2013, after losing a gallant battle with Parkinson's disease. A graveside services will be held Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Belew Cemetery in Aubrey, Texas. Slay Memorial Funeral Center in Aubrey is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Turner was born on November 17, 1927, in Montgomery County, Mississippi, to James and Homie Johnson Parker. She graduated in 1945 from Winona High School in Winona, Mississippi, where she lettered in basketball. She married William Eugene (Gene) Turner on May 17, 1974. She was a long time resident of Jackson and Madison, Mississippi, where she was employed by the Mississippi Baptist Hospital, St. Dominic Hospital, Hinds General Hospital, and the Internal Medicine Group. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Madison, Mississippi, and a proud member of the DAR. She moved to Aubrey, Texas, to be close to her family. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately called her Momma Tyne. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her two sisters, Fannie Parker and Ruby Littleton; her five brothers, James Calvin (JC) Parker, Harris Parker, Ralph Parker, Charles Parker, Conger Parker; and her daughter-in-law, Becky Rose. She is survived by her sons Robert Rose of Temple, Texas, and Larry Rose and wife Janet of Aubrey, Texas; grandchildren Larry Rose, Jr. and wife Janet, Doug Rose and wife LouAnn, Allison Hutson and husband Brian, Robert (Brad) Rose and wife Kristi, Becky Kersh and husband Damon; and eight great-grandchildren.
