    Nancy Lee-Borden

    March 26, 1939 - October 6, 2018

    Dr. Nancy Lee-Borden passed away Saturday, October 6, in Rockwall, TX.  Nancy was born March 26, 1939, in Tacoma, Washington.  She was the only child of Agnes and Rudolph Johnson and the granddaughter of immigrants from Sweden.Nancy earned her undergraduate degree from Stanford University and a PhD. from University of North Dakota in 1979.  Nancy began her career as a physical therapist and after earning her PhD. practiced as a psychologist until her retirement. On December 17, 1960, Nancy married William Borden, who preceded her in death in 2010.  Nancy was an avid gardener, baker, gourmet cook, and canner of delicious jams and pickles.  She loved to play cards and games and read mysteries. She never met a stranger. She was also known for the many beautiful blankets, sweaters, and scarves she knitted for her grandchildren and friends. She loved flowers, the theater, art and travel adventures.    Nancy’s family, friends and colleagues also remember Nancy for her activism for equal rights.  She was a feminist and strong supporter of civil rights.  Her strength and fortitude were inspirational to all who knew her.  She is survived by her three children (Andrew, Sara, and Rachel), 7 grand-children (Christine, Katherine, Sarina, Priya, Makayla, Josie, and Lexie) and 2 great grand-children (Hudson and Presley).A celebration of life ceremony will be at 2:00PM, Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Rockwall Discovery Gardens, 827 Riding Club Road, Rockwall, TX 75087.  Online condolences may be shared at www.slaymemorialfuneralhome.com.
