May 26, 1921 - October 4, 2018
The Robinson Family wishes to share its sad news that we lost our most precious Pearl Thursday morning. Pearl Elizabeth Robinson passed away on October 4, 2018, in Denton, Texas. At her request cremation will take place, no funeral services will be conducted and her family will honor those wishes. A family memorial will be held at a future date and time in Aubrey, Texas, to remember and celebrate her life and the pleasure and love she shared with all of us. Pearl was born May 26, 1921, in Emporia, Kansas. She was the daughter of Willard Colburn and Leona Quakenbush, and she had a younger sister, Carol Bodnar, whose death preceded Pearl's. She was the last of her immediate family to pass and the only one to live into her 90's. Pearl married Jimmie Dean Robinson on June 11, 1941, in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. They had one son: Alan Robinson, who lives in Aubrey, Texas, with his wife Cindy; three grandchildren: Keri Curtis and her husband Joe, Kelly Robinson and his wife Christina and Matthew Robinson, all residents of Aubrey, Texas; four great grandchildren: Clayton Curtis, Taylor, Tyler and Tanner Robinson; and a guardian angel, Sharon Robinson of Aubrey, Texas. She truly loved this family and the special friends she made over almost 10 decades. Pearl's husband preceded her in death on February 22, 2008. She will be missed but not forgotten. She was part of a very special generation. Pearl worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for more than 41 years and achieved management status as a Chief Operator and as Supervisor, Touch Dial Administration. She was instrumental in cutover administration and training for rotary and touch dial conversion in the entire state of Kansas. She was a proud retiree of the AT&T family and had many friendships as a result of the AT&T experience that continued into her retirement years. As Chief Operator, Pearl also served as a member of the Emporia chapter of Altrusa International. Pearl loved sports, especially football and golf. She watched the games and matches almost every weekend, and of course, she had her favorites that she would root for even if it meant cheering against the home team. Her favorite place was Daytona Beach, Florida, where she lived with her husband for .20 years in retirement. Daytona always has events to keep its residents busy and excited, and many of the major events centered around NASCAR and its races. Pearl was a big fan and loved living close to the action. Her favorite activity was dining out with members of her family, and especially, sharing a margarita during a birthday celebration. She loved the people in her life and loved sharing their laughter. Pearl had a lot of great memories and our memories of her will be everlasting. To send a flower arrangement to the family of Pearl Elizabeth Robinson, please click here to visit our Sympathy Store.
