October 24, 1982 - May 3, 2021
Tad Jeffrey Travis, 38, of Pilot Point, TX, passed away Monday, May 3, 2021 in Denton, TX. Tad was born October 24, 1982 to Bradley James (Jim) Travis and Cynthia Ann Boerner. He was employed by Denton County Tax Office as a senior clerk since 2012 and attended Tarleton State University. Tad graduated from Pilot Point High School in 2001. His classmates were very special to him, all stayed in touch and were like family to each other. Tad was a proud member of the Pilot Point Mighty Marching Band. He joined the band in 6th grade and continued his passion of playing the drums through his senior year. He was a mentor to all of his Boerner cousins who followed in his percussion footsteps as well as his siblings in their marching band careers. As an avid sports fan, he could always be found on the sidelines or in the bleachers cheering on his Bearcats and Ladycats. Tad never missed a game, no matter the sport. He attended every Pilot Point sporting event, cheered on hundreds, if not thousands of Bearcats through the years, he was always there for every big game. He was the embodiment of what it means to be a Pilot Point Bearcat for life. We are honored and humbled to support future Bearcats with the Tad Travis Memorial Scholarship affiliated through Pilot Point Educational Foundation, Inc. Proud to be the big brother of his siblings, Trevor, Kelsey and Cole. He took the job very seriously. He was at every important event in their lives, provided a shoulder to cry on, advice (whether they wanted it or not) with unconditional loyalty and love. When he became an uncle to Samuel, it was one of his proudest moments and then again when Andrew was born. He was always bragging on them and spoiling them with surprise Amazon packages on their doorstep. If you knew Tad, you knew his infectious smile and laugh. He was sunshine on a rainy day, always provided sarcastic humor (even if you didn’t want to hear it) and had a heart of gold. He always put others first before his own needs and saw the best in everyone. Tad was a fighter from birth living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy and was an inspiration and hero to many. Tad is survived by his father, Jim Travis and wife Julie of Pottsboro, TX; brother’s Trevor Olson of Pilot Point, TX and Cole Travis and wife Bailey of The Colony, TX; sister Kelsey Longtin and husband Chris of Little Elm, TX; nephews, Samuel and Andrew; paternal grandparents, Donald Dooley of Denton, TX and Virginia Travis of Denton, TX; maternal grandparents, Daniel Boerner and wife Glenda of Pilot Point, TX; aunts and uncles, Tina Parrent and husband Bobby of Pilot Point, TX, Sirena Olson and husband Jason of Little Elm, TX, Billy Travis Jr. and wife Gay of Mt.
