William Adolphus Baird, Jr.

January 24, 1933 - August 18, 2018

William “Bill” Adolphus Baird Jr., 85, of Cross Roads, TX, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, August 18, 2018.  He passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.  Bill was born January 24, 1933 in San Antonio, TX to William Adolphus Baird, Sr. and Mildred Moore.  He married Sylvia Ann McManus on January 30, 1965 in Missouri City, TX.  Bill was a double member of the Masonic Lodge; Stanfield Lodge #217 and Krum Lodge #1453.  He was also a member of the Moslah Shriners in FortWorth, TX.  Bill was a successful businessman who owned and operated Denton County Pest as well as Denton County Foundation for over 40 years. Bill had a passion for gardening and thoroughbred horse racing, at which he was also extremely successful.  If you knew Bill you were considered family, he was loved by many.  He had a mischievous smile and gleam in his eyes.  He remained a young man at heart and had a zest for life. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia; two sons, Mark Baird of Aubrey, TX and Dale Chumbley of San Antonio, TX; four grandchildren, Colton Baird, Kaitlyn Baird, Leslie Chumbley, and Lori Housman; four great-grandchildren, Reese, Garrett, Harris, and Harper Jane; brother, Larry Baird and wife Marilyn of San Antonio, TX; four nephews, Larry Baird, Jr. and wife Lorri, Wes Baird and wife Katie, Mike Baird and wife Ashlyn, and Sean McManus and wife Jamie; and many loving family members.  He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mildred. Another angel has earned his wings! Visitation will be held 6:30PM-7:30PM, Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Slay Memorial Chapel in Aubrey, TX.  A graveside service will be held 10:00AM, Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Belew Cemetery, 9500 Belew Road, Aubrey, TX.  Online condolences may be shared at www.slaymemorialfuneralhome.com.
