Curtis Denver McCullough, 62, of Aubrey, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, Oct. 10, after a long battle with COPD. He was born in Denton, Texas on May 13, 1963, to Robert Earl McCullough and Barbara Jeanette (Crouch) McCullough. He attended Aubrey and Pilot Point schools and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pilot Point. He married Queta Marie (Hodge) Nave on July 1, 2011, in Denton. Curtis worked in a variety of careers, but he was well known by family and friends for being a bass guitar musician. He loved band in high school and got his start semi-professionally by playing at local church events with his father's gospel group, “The Crossroads Quartet.” Through the years, he also played and sang backup vocals with various local country music bands and occasionally sang lead vocals. He found even more passion as a musician when he gave his life over to the Lord and began participating in leading the church congregations in praise and worship. He is survived by his wife, Queta; sons, Craig (Jessica) McCullough of Aubrey, Blake (Sheridon) McCullough, and Cody McCullough and Hailie Eastburn of Denton; daughter, Haylie (Collen) Garey of Princeton; stepson, Patrick (Courtney) Nave of Mendota, IL; stepdaughter, Veronica (Casey) Palmer of Byron, GA; eight grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; one brother, David (Susan) McCullough; brother-in-law Bill (Carol) Hodge; sisters-in-law, Lisa McCullough, Teresa (Dale) Nave and Becky (Jody) Prince and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law, James and Lillie (Pugh) Hodge; one brother, Donald “Kitty” McCullough and one niece, Gena McCullough. Visitation will be Monday, October 13, 2025, from 6:30PM-7:30PM at Slay Memorial Chapel of Aubrey in Aubrey, TX. The funeral service will be Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 10:00AM at Slay Memorial Chapel of Aubrey, with interment following at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Denton. Officiating will be the Rev. Roger Greer. Pall bearers will be Jeff Perry, David Kendrick, Rusty Arrington, Larry Meyer, Frank Fuller, Steve Keith and Kevin Dane.
