It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Danny Ray Brinkley at the age of 70 on July 16, 2024. He was a loving husband, devoted father, beloved grandfather, devout Christian, and a dear friend to many. Born in McGehee, Arkansas, Danny lived a life filled with love, laughter, and kindness. He was known for his warm contagious smile, gentle demeanor, and unwavering generosity. As a young child, Danny was diagnosed with Polio that caused him to spend an extended amount of time in an iron lung. During this time, Danny learned how to create a world of make believe and wonder that he still visited in his mind up until his passing. His compassion and generosity shined when he would donate his ceiling toys to other children in the hospital. Danny carried these traits throughout his entire life. Danny married the love of his life, Jackie Lynn Madden, on August 4,1978. Together they raised three daughters, Shawna, Kimberly and Ashley. Alongside them joined Danny’s sons-in-law, Tony Barrington and Andy Selph. Although Danny loved his family deeply, nothing could compare to the joy he had when he became a grandfather to Jaxon, Evelyn and Emily. Danny was able to create a lifetime of memories with his family on numerous vacations, holiday gatherings, football games, and family reunions. Danny’s gentle nature will forever be his legacy that he leaves behind for all to remember. Be kind like Danny, be forgiving like Danny, find the best in every situation like Danny, and love deeply like Danny. We love you dad. Danny is survived by his wife, Jackie Brinkley of Prosper, TX; three daughters, Shawna Marie Brinkley of Dallas, TX, Kimberly Ann Brinkley and Tony Barrington of Aubrey, TX, and Ashley Nicole Selph and husband Andy of Celina, TX; three grandchildren, Jaxon, Evelyn, and Emily Selph; two brothers, Jerry Brinkley and wife Bertha of San Antonio, TX and Tom Brinkley and wife Toni of San Antonio, TX; one sister, Carolyn Louise and husband Ron of San Antonio, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Florence; one brother, J.D. Brinkley; and two sisters, Reba Meadows and Dorothy Long. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the March of Dimes, in memory of Danny Brinkley. With the help of March of Dimes, Danny was able to overcome Polio as a child and he would want that help to continue for other children.
