David Charles Arnquist, age 67, passed peacefully from this realm surrounded by his loving family on August 27, 2021 at his home in Pilot Point TX from a sudden and brief illness. David was born on July 4, 1954 in Dallas, TX to Otto Morris Arnquist and Dorothy Joan Arnquist. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and attended El Centro College. David was very mechanically inclined and one of his first jobs was as a car mechanic where he met his close life-long friend, Don King, which led to many adventures in water skiing and skydiving. Adventures that grew many close friends who would often stop by one of the many parties that he and his wife of thirty-eight years threw. While skydiving, he was needed as an aircraft mechanic and earned his A&P license and the nickname “Twister” from twisting wrenches on the jump plane he traveled with. He made over 3,000 skydives in his time on this earth and was working on that number when he met the love of his life, Sonja, in Zephyrhills Florida. David then needed a different job to help support his growing family and Texas Instruments in Dallas, Pratt & Whitney in West Palm Beach, and finally his twenty-seven years at Abbott Labs in Irving TX filled that mechanical engineer spot. David has many patents to show for his hard work, and his mechanical abilities were great at home also because whenever anything was broken, he could fix it! But his greatest accomplishment is his two outstanding children whom he loved dearly. David was a very generous and caring person. He was always willing to help someone in need. Through his church, he helped support “Youth With A Mission” and also, went on many mission trips to Peru David is survived by: Lauren Elizabeth Munoz and husband Michael from Lewisville TX, David Blake Arnquist and wife Teresa Schwankl from McKinney TX; two very precious grandchildren, Caelan Jack Arnquist and Isabelle Ruby Munoz. David loved the outdoors, and enjoyed taking his family camping, snow skiing and water skiing, and during his short retirement, he and Sonja enjoyed camping in their RV. Also left behind and missing him along with Sonja, are his beloved sister, Clare Card and husband David, from Dallas, who he shared many good times with at their lake house at Lake Whitney, and his architect older brother, Bill Arnquist and wife Mary, also of Dallas, and many very special nieces, nephews and cousins. David is preceded by his parents, Dorothy and Otto; his younger brother, John Arnquist and his wife Carol of Lewisville TX. A memorial service will take place on Monday, September 20, 2021, 11:00AM at St David’s of Wales Episcopal Church, 623 Ector Street, Denton TX.
