LZ Harmon, Sr., 96, of Aubrey, Texas, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022, in Denton, Texas, while surrounded by family. He was born August 13, 1926, in Aubrey, Texas, to Jacob Arthur & Talley (Brockett) Harmon. LZ married Lois Kathryn King on February 11, 1947, in Aubrey, Texas. LZ is survived by his two daughters, Sue Pierce of Aubrey, Texas, Pamela Brown and husband Robert of Tucson, Arizona; son, LZ Harmon, Jr., and wife Deandrea of Aubrey, Texas; seven grandchildren, Kristal Moody, Marcus Pierce, Marisa Stover, Justin Harmon, Andrea McDonald, Jessica Sword, Jason Harmon; fifteen great-grandchildren, Kandis Rees, Kaleb Moody, Brady, Brett and Brock Pierce, Halie, Taylor and Kara Swarbrick, Jax McDonald, Lillie and Rhett Harmon, Kinslee Waltz, William Harmon, Liam and Bennett Sword; two great-great grandsons, Raylon and Layton Rees; one brother, James Harmon of Aubrey, Texas; one sister, Pearlene Johnson and husband J.R. of Aubrey, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Talley; his wife, Lois; his son, David Ray Harmon; one brother, Haskell Harmon; one sister, Juanell Harmon; two grandchildren, Jonathan Charles and Casey Nolen Cundiff; and son-in-law, Wayne Pierce. Visitation will be held 10:00AM-11:00AM, Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Hilltop Church in Aubrey, Texas. A funeral service will begin at 11:00AM with Gary Sweatman officiating. Interment will follow at Belew Cemetery in Aubrey, Texas. He was a general contractor and real estate developer in the North Texas area. He was a deacon and worship leader at Assembly of God Church in Aubrey, Texas. As a public servant, he served multiple terms on the Aubrey School Board, Aubrey City Council and proudly served as the mayor of Aubrey. In no particular order on any given day, he loved God, Texas, country, family, women, fishing, hunting and gardening. He was known for his jokes, boisterous laugh, and generous hugs. He had a penchant for handing out dollar bills to all the little kids in town. He was never the same since the love of his life, Lois, passed away. We're sure they are happy to be reunited now. No doubt, she's taking care of him and telling him what he needs to do. With tears in our eyes and hearts full of sorrow, we'll hold close precious memories of him until we meet him again.
