Orval Wayne Sproat, 94, passed away Friday, October 13, 2023, in Pilot Point, TX. He was born May 22, 1929, William, and Lela (Keesler) Sproat in Lansing, MI. Orval Wayne Sproat, a man with an extraordinary love and passion for horses, classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles, has left a lasting impact on all who knew him. Throughout his 94 years of life, his dedication to his passions and his ability to instill that love in every one of his children will be remembered fondly. Orval’s love for horses radiated from within him. A love he learned from his Granddad. Whether it was riding through open fields or caring for them at his own stables, he found solace and joy in their presence. This passion for horses was deeply ingrained in his children, who inherited his admiration and respect for these magnificent creatures. Aside from his love for horses, Orval had a special place in his heart for classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Throughout his years, he amassed a collection of his own, each vehicle a testament to his appreciation for automotive craftsmanship. His knowledge and enthusiasm for these vehicles were unmatched, and he took great pride in maintaining and showcasing them for all to see. He especially loved the Cadillac. Orval's legacy extends beyond his love for horses and classic vehicles. He leaves behind a loving family. The bond he cultivated with his children was unparalleled, and he was able to instill passions within his kids that will carry on in each of us. Orval was an accomplished brick mason and instilled his carpentry skills in his boys. Orval is survived by the mother of his children, Dolores Elaine Sproat; sons, David Wayne Sproat and Stephen William Sproat and wife Janice Sproat; daughters, Debra Jean Mechlem, and Kristina Marie Jones and husband, Ron Jones; six grandchildren, Lacey Leigh Sproat, Alicia Marie Martin, David Stephen Sproat, Colby Joseph Martin, Blake Louis Mechlem, and Dustin Cole Jones; and two great grandchildren, Adreyan Marie Hall, and Aaliyah Monroe Hall He is preceded by his parents, William, and Lela Sproat; daughter, Carrie Ann Martin; and son-law, Timothy Joseph Martin. While his passing brings a profound sadness, we can find solace in the belief that Orval has been reunited with his beloved daughter, Carrie. The reunion between father and daughter is surely as beautiful as we all imagine, bringing comfort to those left behind. Orval Wayne Sproat, a good soldier whose love for horses and the open road will forever be remembered, has now crossed the finish line. May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy lives on through his children and the memories shared by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Until we meet again Orval, may you run for the roses.
