Shelby Carroll Moore beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend, passed away on March 11, 2024, at the age of 80 in Krugerville, TX. Shelby was born on April 18, 1943, in Star City, AR, to Carroll D. Moore and Lora Conner. He married the love of his life, Patricia, on March 21, 1968. Shelby served proudly in the Marine Corps after high school before earning a BA, Political Science from the University of Oklahoma and a MPA, Public Administration from Southern Methodist University (SMU). Shelby also served as a Police Officer in Altus, OK, and Dallas, TX, before becoming City Manager of Seagoville, TX, and then developing a diverse career in sales, training, and entrepreneurship before retiring as a teacher in Denton ISD. One of his favorite roles was teacher and mentor to behaviorally challenged students. Shelby was crazy about his wife, Patricia, and proud of their daughters, Bonnie and Melody. A close friend put it well, “I’ve never met a man who loved his wife and children more than Shelby. He was a devoted family man.” Shelby and Patricia were married 55 years and they loved spending time with their daughters and their spouses. He was especially proud of his grandson, Parker. Shelby was a character. Everyone he met remembers him and his unique personality, humor, and honesty. He loved spending time with family and friends, good conversation and exchange of ideas, history, reading, writing, woodworking, and playing cards. Shelby will be deeply missed by his wife, Patricia Sue Moore; children, Bonnie Moore Endicott and spouse Jayme Endicott of San Antonio, TX, and Melody Moore Dungan and spouse Jay Dungan of Frisco, TX; grandson, Parker Dungan; sister-in-law, Jean Eley; and nephew, David Moore and spouse Mandy and their children Ada, Jonah, Eden, and Odin of Houston, TX. Shelby is also survived by his brothers, Ted Moore of Dallas, TX, Paul Moore of Star City, AR, and Steve Moore of Star City, AR, and a wealth of nieces and nephews. Shelby’s inurnment will be held 1:15pm, Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow in Krugerville, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name to Paralyzed Veterans of America or The Salvation Army. Shelby was a special man to many.
